Shadow Shot Sunday: Triptych
I
Too many sunsets
have crashed against these old stones—
they crumble from light.
II
No one can hear them
whimpering—old sandstone walls—
only the shadows…
III
Crumbling sandstone walls,
shadows keening like old men—
theirs is a sad song.

you are on a roll with these shadows…can’t go wrong with weathered wood and stone. beautiful words.
My apologies for a late reply, Robin! My Internet service was down for several days and I’m just now catching up! Yes, weathered wood and stone are excellent subjects for photographers. Thanks for your visit.
The reflection in the window seem to transform the scene into a fortress. The building blocks are attractive though, perhaps a castle it would like to be. Angular views under a western sky are really impressive…
My apologies for a late reply, Ralph! My Internet service was down for several days and I’m just now catching up! An aspiring castle? Well, why not!
Lovely words as always and I love all shots you’ve gotten of the old wood and stones! They speak of so much history! Hope you have a lovely weekend!

Shadows keening like old men…I love this and the old stone goes without saying…ahhhh…the sun!
Beautiful..Wouldn’t it be interesting if the buildings could talk?
A very interesting picture.
Know the feeling! Great shot.
Love the threads of thoughts in these poems offering different perspectives of the old walls! Great photo!
Great shot!
That’s a nice angle to shoot a shadow!
Sunny Outdoor Shadows
Your words accompanying this photo are wonderfully creative. I would never think of ruins as being sad.
The reflection in
the window adds more depth and
breadth…just beautiful.
Great shadows, wonderful haiku!
The walls might have ears,
But not mouths. And if they did
What stories they’d tell!
Cheers!

Love your haiku. Lovely shadows!
So true. So true. And, so aptly put. Fantastic, as usual!
Nice, interesting angle. Takes in all. Just like your haiku!
Beautiful, as usual!
Hauntingly beautiful haiku with your wonderful image.
Hugs and blessings,
