Poppy Maidens
The poppy maidens
dance through the grasses, flouncing
their yellow-gold skirts.

Love California Poppies. Wish we had them all year!
Such gorgeous colours!
This is really lovely!
I love your wording…the poppy maidens! They are one of my favorite flowers…luscious gold and very simple, yet bursting with joy!
Such a cute poem! Love the personification.
oh how they tilt the sky
gold skirts lift even heaven
smitten earth grows eyes
I want to dance with them!
Poppy maidens so enchanting!
Love to watch them dance in a gentle breeze.
I always wanted golden poppy maidens to accompany her flame red sisters!

You take so many lovely photos!! How many photos do you take in a week or a month?
pretty shot. have a great sunday.
Such pretty poppies…but all we can think of is the wicked witch of the west saying “poppies…poppies will put them to sleep” hee hee hee!!
Beautiful capture!
What a lovely idea. A beautiful metaphor for poppies. I am reminded of Steinbeck’s description of the poppies in Salinas Valley in East of Eden.
“These too are of a burning color–not orange, not gold, but if pure gold were liquid and could raise a cream, that golden cream might be like the color of the poppies.”
— John Steinbeck (East of Eden)

Dancing flowers
My post combines my own artwork with an original poem written by another poet. This poet chose my collage to illustrate his poem.
As straight from the camera it can be !! Love your poems…
Beautiful image and words.
I can feel the beauty! Here’s my share . Thanks and see you around!
I love poppies! And, poppy maidens flouncing their skirts– I absolutely think that is “fabulous”. Such a treat to see your great pics and read your creative words. Love the rhyme with your comment too. Mickie
