Wednesday Threesome

original

Taken in God’s hands,
my life begins to crumble
like some day-old bread.

~~ ~~ ~~

Drawn across my cheek—
the line your hot finger traced
in its fiery wrath.

~~ ~~ ~~

An uneasy truce—
I rise to greet the morning
with an upraised fist.

  1. Feisty approach! I like it.

  2. visceral haiku, each wise and on target.

  3. a lot of anger in these three haikus it really comes through.

  4. Espec. loved the last – that ‘up-raised fist’ gave me chills…..

  5. This certainly reflects the religious fervour seen so much these days. Love seems so far from this piece which is so vividly expressed.

  6. “Taken in God’s hands,
    my life begins to crumble
like some day-old bread.” … This is so true. It’s like He has to shred us apart before turning us into something edible (or something like that). :) But you’re probably just talking about death and the fact that a life is really only like a day in the scheme of things.

    “Drawn across my cheek—
the line your hot finger traced
in its fiery wrath.” … Your turn in the last line is really good. The first two lines sound sexual, but then you make it about anger instead. I like the word “traced,” as if a permanent mark has already been made there and she is just going over it again.

    “An uneasy truce—
I rise to greet the morning
with an upraised fist.” … Better to keep your guard up than get sucker punched. :)

  7. powerful piece.

is the upraised fist… a curse to what has happened? a triumphant wave of I can beat this? a fear it all happening again?

  8. Strong messages – excellent Haiku. Enjoyed them very much.
