Journey’s End
Cutting through the gloom,
freighter’s journey ending soon—
berthing place is nigh.

Oh, Susannah!
Old men, there’s no hope
for anything but a peek—
cold shoulder for you!

Cutting through the Waters
CUTTING THROUGH THE WATERS
Cutting through the waters,
Buffeted by breeze,
Nothing beats the freedom
Of the open seas.
Longing eyes look forward
To some distant shore,
Lusting for adventures
As in days of yore.
Nearer still and nearer
Ship approaches land,
Soon we will be welcomed
By the sun-drenched sand.
Cutting through the waters
Seeking distant leas,
Nothing beats the freedom
Of the open seas.

Haiku Heights: Bliss
What bliss might this be?
Candied apples just for me—
sinfully sweet treats!

Ruby Tuesday: Phone Box
Need to make a call?
Fish in your pocket and haul
Out—not a cell phone—
But six nickels and a dime.
Listen for the tone
And then feed the telephone
All the coins in hand—
Talk away, forget the time!
