If you could sprout wings,
old wine barrel, where would you
flee from these shadows?

  1. It depends – the hot AZ sun could wither the flora within the barrel. So on a temperate day, it may want to fly, and that would be a sight to behold. We’d miss the barrel should it leace…

  2. he does look a bit lonely, maybe he needs a friend to keep him company.

  3. What a beautiful old barrel…it really looks lonely but not sad…

  4. Flot billede.. 🙂

  5. what stories could you
    breathe in faceted sunlight
    that shadows won’t tell?

  6. Perhaps it’s happy to have a little shade!

  7. I do love your wonderful, sunny shadow shots! I think this guy is enjoying some shade and some warmth at the same time — wish I were doing the same!! Have a great weekend!

  8. What a beautiful photo. I’d love to be sitting in those shadows right now.

  12. Great thought, MMT. That barrel looks like it’s been grounded for quite a while. Hope you’re having a great Spring Break. Great shot and haiku.

    Peace.

  13. i would revel in
    shadow, knowing I shape shift
    in the changing light

  14. Love these colours together.. sand and blue!! So beautiful!

  15. Beautiful blue sky and shadows. I’d flee to somewhere a bit less parched, or perhaps just stay there and age gracefully.

  16. Awe! Do you think it wants to flee? Right now that looks like a perfect spot to be. :))

  17. I love the subtle colours and the shadows. Gorgeous wine barrel..

  18. Sometimes I feel big and round like that barrel…guess I’d fly up high to check out the view.

  19. Wonderful picture–the shadows add so much to the composition.

  20. It sure looks as if it’s trying to sprout wings. It may even be successful one of these days.

  21. Beautiful photo and thoughtful haiku.

  22. It is cool..Happy SOOC Sunday.

  23. It is cute…Happy SSS!

  24. I’d fly to the swimming pool.

  25. Who would have thought to capture that barrel?! What a great choice of subject it turned out to be. Bravo.
    Rosie

  26. I like thinking of the answer to that but the best part is…I AM in Tucson.

  27. Perhaps the wine barrel thinks about, which vintage there became top scorer 😉
    Great SSS!

  28. Pretty imaginative to visualize this barrel flying away from his dismal, shady corner! But he does have beautiful, glossy leaves, it seems, and maybe they keep him company there in the shade.

  29. A beautiful corner bathed in shadows! And love the intimate question in the haiku!

  30. Love the adobe and the old southwest style/theme. The shadow of the huge prickly pear cactus is outstanding!!!

  32. I like how the ironwork shadows spill over to more than one surface.

  33. lovely capture and wonderful Haiku to go with

  34. A+ work again! Very nice shot. Mickie

  35. Hmmmm. I wonder if I would want to flee those shadows? Perhaps not. But would like to have been around the wine barrel in its day! ; )

  36. Beautiful.

Somehow it reminded me of how we are always tied up and bound to something. How freedom does not really exist in the real sense of the word.

  37. I think the wine barrel would be fine in those shadows 🙂 I wouldn’t think I’d flee it so easily, MMT..
