  1. This is a very beautiful photo!

  2. I can see why they get tired: the treads are sloping and a little too wide.
Worth it when you get there I expect 🙂

  3. Steep stairs, but the real breath taker here are those gorgeous blue skies! Terrific capture as always! Hope you have a great weekend!

  4. Such a lovely shot. I bet those pilgrims pray a lot as they are climbing those steps. It looks like they go on and on. The picture makes me wonder how far down that hill they have to start. Your blue sky is wonderful. It was one perfect day for being out with the old camera.

  5. I would be tired also, lovely Haiku

  6. a step at the time bring one high up,
    nice stairway.

  7. I too would become weary climbing those stairs! I found it so when hiking the desert mountains..arthritis is nasty!
Thank you for the lovely poem you left me. I may use it on a future post and give credit to you! hugs Anna

  8. A great shot from below where I would stay to look at the sky!

  9. What a neat perspective of the stairs. I really like the composition of this photo.

  10. I really like the composition of this photo. You’ve captured a great perspective of the hill and stairs.

  11. that’s how we travel life, one step at a time!!!

    Thanks for the visit.

  12. Stairs make me grow weary too 😉 Well done!

  13. A lovely photo and a beautiful sky, climbing the steps is good exercise.

  14. Is this the stairway to heaven? Not very creative, I know, but it did make me thinkmof that song. But that’s a good thought, because it was the favorite of my oldest daughter, the one that no longer walks among us, so to thinkmnof it is a very good thing. I like the photo.nSome day, I’ll have to tour somemof these places you have photographed.
    Hope all is going well.

    Peace

  15. Beautiful picture made even more vivid by your haiku. I can certainly feel the weariness upon viewing the picture. But I am reminded that even the most wearisome endeavor has its rewards. Thank you! Cathy

  16. Wonderful shot. It’s quite a climb to that clear blue sky.

  17. stunning message here…really great to read this again

  18. barely at the top
just close enough to make out
    endless mountain ranges!

  19. A minimum expected by God..to become eligible for blessings.. so why feel weary..anyways..just a thought..but you did well to express because that is what often happens..

  20. Lovely shot. I like the angle and how one looks up at the beautiful church above. Willa’s comment was so true about “traveling life one step at a time”. Nice post. Have a lovely weekend. Mickie 🙂

  21. Given my current state of respiratory virus, even looking at that precipitous incline takes away my breath!

  22. This photo reminds me of my country Philippines. We have many places that has to be reach by climbing at least 100 to 300 more steps just to be in a church. Thanks for sharing!

  23. But they carry beauty and hope in their hearts, this leads them on. Lovely photo and words.

  24. Hi MMT~ We forget the struggles pilgrims go through to reach the holy places–but somehow they persevere. It is their mission. And what an achievement to reach that gorgeous Basilica! And the view from up there! How elated and joyous one would feel!

  25. This is not like Norway at all!! I really would like the sunny weather here!!

  26. The church on top looks lovely, and I would climb up to see it, and probably also a stunning view! Beautiful!

  27. A needless arduous journey …. It seems like a cruel plot to place the church at that particular spot. Pity the poor pilgrim of many years or injury …. Give them an elevator!

  28. Looks lovely and worth the climb for the beauty alone.

  29. Beautiful photo and words.

  30. I would like to climb those stairs………….

  31. Smukt og himmelsk.
    God weekend 🙂

  32. i don’t think i have the stamina for those stairs. brilliant haiku. 🙂

  33. I am already tired, that is some slope but worth the beauty at the top~

  34. I’m sure I would be very tired after climbing those stairs!

  35. Awesome photo paired with your pilgrimmage Haiku … thank you for sharing! Getting up to the church is part of the pilgrimmage …
