Dawn

Waianae, Oahu

Which do I prefer?
To hold first light’s fragile thread
with an iron grip,
or slipping through my fingers,
set it free to stitch the clouds?

  15. I had to be up at 5:30 this morning and it has been a long, long time since I did that. OK, well, last week I had to be up even earlier to take my dad for a procedure at the hospital, but that doesn’t count. I miss seeing the sunrise, even if it is over the house next door. Some morning (when my daughter is back home), I will drive the 25 minutes down to the beach and once again watch the sunrise… or perhaps later in the evening for the moonrise. I did see a pileated woodpecker.. the large one that never comes to the feeder… sitting on the ledge of my parent’s bedroom bay window, looking in. I must ask them if they felt someone looking at them early this AM.

  16. Light stitching the clouds. . . . a lovely image.

  17. This is so beautiful. Happy sky watching!
