Six Takes on ‘Warmth’

Haiku Heights

To be left alone
after forty-seven years—
no warmth in this thought.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Bird with broken wing,
where will you find warmth to heal?
May you fly again!
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Why do you complain
of your old bones lacking warmth?
Rekindle desire!
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
A single candle—
warmth enough this April night
for your trembling hand.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
old homeless Mary
covering herself with rags—
warmth in the gutter
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Seven years ago
all the warmth seeped out of her—
Iceland in her mind.
  1. well expressed haiku ~ very creative lady ~ thanks, namaste, ^_^
  2. I like that you have different takes on our inspiration. Always a pleasure to read your haikus.
  3. I like your 6 takes. Old Mary with Iceland on her mind…this could be lyrics for a hit song, my dear.
  4. may we all fly again!
  5. So sad. And yet, a glimmer of hope!
  6. Liked all of them–you really are a haiku machine! I think my favorite is “A single candle” 🙂
