A Dozen Hotties

The stories she tells
will heat up the coldest night—
draw close to the fire.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
drumming of summer
heat pound-pounding in my veins
boiling blood and brain
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
In this searing heat
you could walk around naked
cursing at the sun.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
When I ask how long
until summer’s heat abates,
the weatherguy laughs.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
One good summer rain,
then perhaps the heat will flee,
leaving us in peace.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
a ruined garden
heat beating down on the beans
weeds strangling the rows
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
the flower sellers
brave the midday heat, blooming
on every corner
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
thick adobe walls
no heat can penetrate them—
I sleep in comfort
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
catching up on sleep
as the desert heat bears down—
a long siesta
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
when it was raining
I thought nothing of the heat
then the last drop fell
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
little mountain town—
haven from the hellish heat
rising from the plain
~~~ ~~~ ~~~
The belfry pigeons
tremble in the noonday heat,
their feathers wilting.
  1. You make this look so easy! What an impressive series.
  2. Smashingly wonderful, all — yet the first is my favorite.
  3. when it was raining
    I thought nothing of the heat
    then the last drop fell
    I especially like this one. I felt like this just yesterday. We do need the rain so badly!!! And when it came I was excited! Then it stopped in a short 20 minutes. Everything evaporated and then the heat and humidity began to rise! Whew! Have a wonderful day!! Cathy
  4. …thick adobe walls ~ my favorite ~ you slept in peace ~ sweet joy ~ ~ thanks, ^_^ (A CreativeHarbor)
  5. It’s obvious that your environment is your muse….and the words that describe your world are so beautiful….each haiku a gem….
  6. Crazy in brilliance and tact.
  7. When it was raining
    We stopped to feel the joy
    Then it passed away
    Love your series. Them a indeed expressive.
  8. Oops
    They are indeed expressive.
  9. hypercryptical
