With my walking stick
I whack evening’s deadly fence—
seven stars fall free.

  1. So beautiful! I love how those of us who participate in Friday’s Fences capture them everywhere.
    Thanks for your comment today!

  2. often, your photos bring questions to my mind. so the fence denotes private land?
both your image and phrase of whacking almost makes me cringe! (because of the barbed wire)

  3. Those seven stars are my sisters… thank you for setting them free…

  4. layers upon layers…..perfect

  5. seven sparks – brilliant picture….

  6. So much said, so few words used. I would whack that fence too if it made stars fall through the sky. Thank you for the heads up earlier. I linked up.

  7. Love the sense of impulsive action generating surprise beauty! Lovely photo and haiku!

  8. I really have no idea what you’re talking about.
    But it’s cool, and surreal.
    Cheers!

Fully half the time I have no idea what I’m talking about either, but I’m having fun with language—and I take heart from Archibald MacLeish’s wise observation that “a poem should not mean but be.” 🙂

    • hey me neither hahaha but whatever image the haiku conjured in my mind, it’s lovely… beautiful words… “a poem should not mean but be.” yes… and of course the beauty in this is that the words mean a lot of different things to different individuals 🙂

  9. Oh my, this is so lovely!!
    powerful!

  10. Awesome haiku MMT and that picture is stunning.

  11. Surely! Evening has no right building a fence around stars, I welcome their free fall.

  12. That create a story inside my mind. But barb wired fences can be a menace 🙂

  13. Mysterious, this one! But I like the feelings it stirred in me. Thank you!

  14. I wonder where they fall !!!

  15. I am a fan of your use of language…in this poem and in the way you said:
    Fully half the time…
    🙂

  16. What a beautiful sunset! I love the haiku.

  17. Beautiful photo. It emphasises the loneliness of the desert.

  18. Excellent… and a great visual. 🙂
