She Colors Her Page

original

She colors her page,
hoping to bask in the glow
of a thousand suns.

~~ ~~ ~~

She colors her page
with shades of sorrow and grief—
all her foes rejoice.

~~ ~~ ~~

She colors her page,
not daring to raise her head
and arch toward the light.

  1. you’ve done this before
wanting to be first first first
    bah humbug boo hiss:)

  2. All very good but i love the second one best:)

I’m surprised they make any sense at all, considering how early I arose to be first in line—a problem you don’t have, since you are, oh, eight hours or so ahead of me! (Three o’clock in the morning for me is 11 a.m. for you.) Now, pardon me, please, while I take a little nap to recover from my labors! 🙂

  3. Love this, especially the last stanza. Wonderful!

  4. Oh, how this broke my heart. I endured periods such as these… deep valleys that ultimately led to peaks and then plateaus that no longer dipped so low. Three haiku, and you capture the essence of despair.

  5. Beautifully done. I especially love “hoping to bask in the glow of a thousand suns”. I hope she does get to bask, after so much pain.

  6. these mad me so sad. I hope she bathes in a thousand lights and realizes how talented she really is.

  7. These are lovely and so sad. I want her to be able to raise her head.

  8. Quite beautiful made my heart cry.

  9. J Cosmo Newbery

I like the second one too. Echos my poem to an extent.

  10. Whether we draw, paint, craft, write or love we imprint part of ourselves to say we have lived and have made our mark.

  11. Good stuff.

Series works well. I like the second one best. Nothing our detractors like better than to know we’re feeling despair.

    Here’s to the light!

    Uttley

  12. Loved your take…but, nothing can beat the second one–that sounds so real. Stunning!!

  13. What a mysterious thought ‘she colors her page’..so many layers to unwrap..hope she will look up to the light..in time..

  14. Not daring to raise her head…. ! I hope she does find the strength eventually. Three nice poems.

  15. she colors her page
    and we dazzle in the
    beauty

  16. Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade)

    I love them all!

  17. The second reminds me of Psalm 23: You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies. And though those enemies rejoice at any of your past mistakes, I have a feeling you’d invite them to the table anyway.

Lovely write, and I also did both prompts, but in two different poems. You are more clever than I! Peace, Amy

  18. Hoping she raises her head to the light and upsets her foes!

  19. Nicely written.
