Three Prayers

original

God of the kitchen,
may nothing dreadful emerge
from my pots and pans.

~~ ~~ ~~

God of corn and wheat,
may harvests not be hasty
on my little farm.

~~ ~~ ~~

God of stone and star,
how can I ignore the ways
that you sustain me?

  1. Like both! Interestingly, knew only use of ‘sustain pedal’

  2. I like these all but I think I like the first one best.

  3. We are no longer farmers, but I come from a long line of them. I liked two the best. It reminded me of the risk they all took. My Grandfather always said that farmers were the biggest gamblers of all. Hasty planting and weeding certainly would diminish the quality of their crops.

What a thoughtful comment! I’m sure your grandfather would have appreciated it. I know I do. Thank you!

  4. The first gets the biggest laugh but clearly the other two are far more thoughtful and show how helpless we are when the elements play with us.

  5. God of stone and star..i think i would call upon her/him..magical..as ever..

  6. After my latest culinary disaster, your first prayer strikes too close to home! I should post this in my kitchen!!

  7. I adore the third prayer, and can completely relate to the first. Lovely.
