Three Sparks

Dying spark of hope—
melancholy settles in,
nibbling at my soul.

So many stories
begin with a spark of grief—
Tolstoy understands.

~~ ~~ ~~

I dream of the one
whose basket is filled with sparks
gathered from the hearth.

  1. your first haiku reads so much about my adulthood, but beautifully written.

  2. At least the final haiku was more hopeful. However grief will affect us sometime in our lives and explains why so much is written about it.

  3. Great haiku set MMT! Some sadness in the first but a glimmer of hope gives salvation at the end!

  4. What a delightful threesome – the third is particularly thought provoking.
