Along the Way

Virgin of the Streets
Wayside shrine, Virgin of Guadalupe, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México

A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

Proverbs 16:9, King James Version

Lady of the Way,
as I scurry here and there,
guide my steps, I pray.

  1. Have a good Blue Monday!

  2. a beautiful prayer; and dont we need her intercession and her guidance? she is eternal mother

    much love…

  3. What a beautiful shrine ~ great shot and haiku ~ carol, xxx

  4. A very nice and inspiring scene.

    • magicalmysticalteacher

I find lots of inspiring scenes as I travel through Mexico. The amazing thing about this one is that somebody painted it on the wall of a house in an alley!

  5. I love the colors of Our Lady of Guadalupe’s attire! Is your home close to San Miguel de Allende? I ask because I think that you have shared so many beautiful shrines from this area.

    • magicalmysticalteacher

Oh, no! San Miguel is a couple of hours away by air from Tijuana, which is the airport I use. I’ve been there only once, but I took a lot of photos. I do plan to return in February!

  6. i love when haiku becomes a prayer,
    thank you for yours.

  7. Beautiful in the area where you found this. Interesting place to see lovely art.

It happens to be in a rather run-down (although not dangerous) neighborhood. I think of the shrine as a ray of hope in otherwise hopeless surroundings.

  8. MMT…I am happy to be here, I have missed you
    and your haiku prayers.
Try not to scurry too furiously. ♥

  9. I love that shrines are hidden by the wayside and bless those that pass by.

  10. Let this be my mantra, too. I love her.

  11. How wonderful to find a beautiful painting like this in such an unexpected location! Your Lady Of The Way haiku is perfect as we enter into this busy holiday season. Thank you.

    • magicalmysticalteacher

Why, I wonder is the holiday season always busy? Maybe it’s because we don’t step out of the way to pray for a while.

  12. So refreshingly unique. Like an intimate piece of art. Beautiful.

  13. I like the naive look of the “shrine”
