At the Nursing Home

at the nursing home
horrible medications
dulling sight and sound
~~ ~~ ~~
at the nursing home
listless great-great-grandmother
staring at the wall
~~ ~~ ~~
At the nursing home
the moody night shift nurses
wait for the next death.

  1. I don’t see how they do it, really.

  2. They can be such horrible have captured the feeling perfectly..not a comfortable view..but a very real one

  3. Too true, you got this down to a tee.

  4. it is a terrible sight and hard to leave someone you love there even when you know you can’t care for them the way they need,

  5. I have worked in a nursing home and you have captured it spot-on.

Both of my grandparents died in the same nursing home. I guess some of the ambiance rubbed off on me.

  6. That last one is just outstanding!

  7. It’s morbid! Workers here must have heart of steel to survive. Great haiku set MMT!

  8. I have a friend who worked at a nursing home. I don’t think she ever got used to the constant deaths.

  9. Grim… Sad…
    And yet very true…

  10. As grim as they are, we have to ask what is the alternative to nursing homes. I think perhaps it is our fear that one day perhaps it might be us.
It is good to see staff that really care; pity they are not all like that. Good dose of reality poetry for us!

  11. Ugh! Please shoot me! (But not yet).

I know. I don’t like nursing homes either.

  12. Nursing homes are depressing old people warehouses. I hope I never end up in one. You captured the scene well.

  13. ah …your words are heartbreaking MMT …
