Burning Everything

original

burning everything—
how adept the old rhymester
at torching poems

~~ ~~ ~~

burning everything—
even edible fragments
snatched from the starving

~~ ~~ ~~

burning everything—
even the viscous liquid
seeping from her lips

  1. Nothing is immune at times..that parting image really burns into the imagination..(in a good way mind)

Actually that parting image is rather, well, disgusting! But that’s what came to mind, so I used it! Thanks for your kind comments, Jae Rose.

  2. the parting image is creepy and gross. I love how it slowly goes to that with each haiku

  3. Phew, they all ring true! But who would want to torch poems?

    • magicalmysticalteacher

Who would want to burn poems? Someone with a twisted mind, I suppose.

  4. There is a certain sadness in these haiku which reflects the senseless cruelty of man who destroys and kills without reason. Interesting too is the first haiku where the rhymester destroys the very thing that might in fact give him a measure of immortality. Perhaps I read too deeply!

  5. Burn, baby, burn! I love it!

    • magicalmysticalteacher

I probably made an ash of myself with this series. 😉

  6. Poems are in for difficult times being subjected to such indignities! Nicely MMT!

I’d like to believe that poetry will survive long after we foolish humans have obliterated ourselves! 😉
