liberated leaves
falling to the forest floor—
first frost of autumn
~~ ~~ ~~
muddy from the storm—
sacred threads and marigolds
in the temple court
~~ ~~ ~~
deep in the forest
vicious creatures slavering
for a taste of blood

  1. The autumn floor is a sober reminder of how quickly time drags us along…at least leaves soften the blow..and love the scared threads and marigolds lightening up those storms

  2. Love liberated leaves. All three create rich image!

  3. The first stanza reminds us that those who have adapted to life’s openness may be too subtle to react. Nicely MMT!

  4. autumn does creep in fast.I love how you call it the autumn floor. All three of these are brilliant rich images.

  5. i love the last one… its so passionate and powerful… sends me in a whirl of imagination!

  6. We should all remember we are in that forest too. Your haiku always permits the reader to involve themselves which can be both good and bad!

  7. An awesome trio wonderful autumn scenes … thanks MMT for sharing.

  8. I’d stay out of that forest if I was me.

Exactly! Which is why I said you may have no choice. Enchanted forests can leave you with very few options, the best of which is most probably to flee for your life!

  9. Those vicious creatures I’ve learned to know.

  10. Liked them all, but really enjoyed the alliteration of the first one. ‘Liberated leaves’ 🙂

  11. That last one packed a punch.
