So desolate No wonder they cal it a desert !
For some of us, the desolation is dessert! 😉
so true,
love this…
Desert- an isolated place..! Just like lives of many humans!
Cheers
Heavy… 🙂
I still scream at the thought of being close to a teddybear cholla… but I guess the desert wouldn’t care.
The plants of the desert know how to protect themselves! Beautiful capture of the beauty of the desert.
Ouch! You made your point! 🙂
Yes, this was really funny!
Now I am wondering why the scream? snake? prickly cactus? LOL.
Clever! Sticking keeps shadows and danger close.
I like the Hitchcock feel of this haiku (to me anyhow). “Not even a scream” is a great line to liven up haiku-land. 🙂
Alfred has inspired me in so many ways! 😉

Ouch! That’s a sticky one!
Good one!
If a scream could turn the sun off maybe the shadows would leave (is that Alice talking or me 😉
You’ve got the comments flowing with this one. Thanks.
Happy Blue Monday!
Beautiful shot! Some had a photo of a cactus at Face Book that said “Being negative only makes a difficult journey more negative. You may be given a cactus, but you don’t have to sit on it..” I thought it was a perfect choice of words. I remember driving through the Arizona National Forest and seeing the pine trees alongside with the cactus. Those cactus are such amazing life forms. Looks to me like they are lifting their arms in praise of God creating them and to think they have their own built in water system. Amazing!
beautiful, in essence
much love…
It is hard to understand how anything grows in the desert, but much beauty can be found there. Always enjoy the sights you share.
I love this! The imagery and the Haiku. I work with a land trust to protect dessert prairie eco-systems, so I am a fan of the cacti.
Great shot and words. 🙂
i’m so stuck on you
my piercing cactus lover
that is why i scream

Yeah, they stuck there forever…..I’d love to hope the only gravity we could worry about at this ‘sticky point’…
simple words, very powerful imagery and haiku.
🙂
hard shadows to be found in deserts 🙂
A chilling observation.
