Fanciful mural on a house, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México

Richard Wright’s haiku about spring inspires me to write a new haiku about summer:

Spring begins shyly
With one hairpin of green grass
In a flower pot.

~~ ~~ ~~

Summer opens wide
with fragrant lilies blooming
in a painted pot.

  1. Beautiful!!! That photo is so lovely!!!

  2. What a great mural … and love how you’ve echoed the photo in words … great post.

  3. Love both Richard Wrights poem and yours!

  4. I like your haiku better! Thanks for playing today.

    Happy Blue Monday!

  5. Someone did a nice job o n the mural. The painted pot filled with blooms sets it off.

  6. I like the mural very much. The blue flower pot is lovely and the books casually leaning against the wall, with titles that one can read, add a homeyness to the scene.

  7. Oh, I should add that I enjoyed your haiku very much 🙂
