Broken

Ceramic decoration left by a young visitor, reduced to potsherds, Roxaboxen Park, Yuma, Arizona

I thought a little paste would work,
I even tried some glue,
Hoping that my handiwork
Would hold the shards of blue.

But glue and paste do nothing,
As far as I can see,
To piece together something
That’s broken as can be.

  1. That is life all over. For all the beauty and laughter we have in our world we must expect and accept that there are things we lose too and must say goodbye to them.

Saying goodbye is one of life’s hardest tasks…

  2. I love the change of form – it fits perfectly with this blues song – almost like a wish..and a hope and a dream – Alice asks did you try sellotape too 😉

Alice, have you some tape I could borrow? Never thought of that! 😉

    Happy Sunday to you Maggie

    much love…

  4. So true, some things are beyond repair!

  5. The truism in the shards………..takes so very long to build trust and but a moment to destroy it. So few words for such a large truth!

  6. Beautifully poignant 🙂

  7. A fabulous image to accompany such true words!

  8. Maybe a stepping stone collage in the making?

  9. So sad, when a treasure is broken.

  10. Ah….but the hearts are not broken!

Crisp write here – very pleasing on this dull Sunday afternoon, knowing the Spring sunshine will be with us soon… Thank you… With Best Wishes Scott http://www.scotthastie.com

  12. This is poignant……sad, but true. In some cases, even the mere attempt to apply glue and paste do nothing but make things more of a sticky mess!

  13. No one has managed to put humpty dumpty back together again…broken it stays.

  14. This is great. I love the rhymes.

  15. so much broken can’t be mended… life is mostly shards…

  16. Such a simple poem that belies a very profound message. Wonderful job.

  17. It says it all 😦

  18. Life can be that way sometimes…you captured it perfectly here!

  19. Sometimes we need to recognize what’s broken and move on. A tough sell, but make us stronger.

  20. Snakypoet (Rosemary Nissen-Wade)

    Deceptively simple.

At least it’s not simply deceptive! 😉
