An early morning sweeper, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, México

outside the courtyard
sweeping up party debris
for the thousandth time

conquering debris
after the midnight party
one swish at a time

  1. Tough to do, for sure!!

  2. Oh, I had to laugh! Only by praying and saying “I am the steward of this corner” do I have the patience to pick up the passersby’s trash. I have to conquer myself as the task is never ending. I love your picture, too. I often watched the morning ritual of sweeping in Mexico. Wonderful how you turned two haiku into a full story.

  3. The debris of others is very tiresome.. and yet sweeping it away probably feels quite cathartic – if only we could sweep the neighbours away though..

  6. Nice!!!

    much love…

  7. Beautifully captured. Despite the chore it is still a good feeling to start each day anew this way.
