A single mother,
feeling hard stares from the crowd,
hurries far away.

  1. so poignant and annoying at the same time…

  2. Yup, still happens and even from women sadly.

  3. Grrr. We internalize too much. Life is hard enough. A very moving haiku.

  4. Arghh…I shrug! Why should there be shame in being single!? A beautiful haiku…MMT!

  5. Oh yes, been there, done that. Smiles.

  6. We think we live in a free world but we don’t. Perhaps the worst part is that thosethat are in shackles want everyone else to be shackled too.

  7. The woman who bore
    Me, felt this so strongly
    She gave me away

  8. Oh yes, this truly is the most annoying thing.. to be judged for being a single mother.. sigh..

  9. What a wonderful mediation on being single – and yet she’s not alone.. made me think of all the connotations – single minded. one single being to protect.. also alone.. but the photo seems like she’s strong..

  10. Oh, I do hope she doesn’t! There are many like her! She is not alone and has nothing to hide.
