Why Do You Fear?

Why do you fear the darker days,
With clouds blotting out the sun?
Why do you fear the hidden ways
Before the journey’s begun?

Surely the darkness will shield you
From foes that you cannot see,
And hidden pathways will yield you
Unfettered felicity.

  1. It is difficult to relax and allow that unfettered felicity to wash over when our political system seems to be going through horrors.

  2. but the journey towards ruin has begun…sigh…

  3. Such beauty in this rhyme pointing to what is not obvious on the surface. When I have shelter enough to stop and look at a stormy sky, I stand in awe.

  4. As a transgender soul, I see the path of history, starting to repeat itself, as if, the 1930s are being revived, before my very eyes, with a new fascist leader emerging, in the “land of the free and home of the brave.” Too many of my brothers and sisters were lost, in Hilter’s concentration camps, which few people talk about.

  5. Ah, that is one way of looking at it…that darkness will shield a person from foes that they do NOT see. How true that is.

  6. Such power and depth in your lines!❤️

  7. Thank heaven for the hidden pathways!

  8. Bless the hidden pathways. There are those who are bound to wrest defeat from the jaws of victory….who would walk into a white room and see a shadow in the corner. I try not to spend too much time with them! Your words are powerful!

  9. I hope those hidden pathways become visible. Love the poem and the photo is great.

  10. thought provoking !!!

    much love…

    May it be so!
