Woman, why are you
always doing holy work
on your hands and knees?

  1. Lovely mural for Ruby Tuesday Too ~ thanks,

    Wishing you a peaceful week ~ ^_^

  2. that’s how she’s made 🙂

  3. The truth of this poem through the ages prompted me to go find the mural–what a place! Have you been there? While I want women to stand up tall, I am also grateful for all the work on their knees that has helped us survive physically and spiritually. I am grateful for the love of animals, for the art, for the lessons. Your poem is brief, and I see from the comments that it can be read many ways, but I read it as a painful shout out into the world from a silence that has not yet been expressed. Why not stand in your full POWER!?!

  4. Woman, why do you not stand?

  5. Nothing is more spiritual that to offer your services to God whether on your knees praying or on your knees working for for the good of others.

Religious institutions are no strangers to patriarchy. It would be different if the men were getting down on their knees and working alongside.
