The news today

Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

The news today’s not pretty,
The land is sere and bare.
The TV’s quick to tell you:
There’s no hope anywhere
For any kind of moisture,
Not even drops of dew;
Without a good strong rainstorm,
The land will stay this hue.

  1. Sad but true. But the rain that has been hitting the Midwest and South would wash away the whole desert. Until someone starts to care more about the environment and climate change, the news will only get worse.

  2. Try to look for good amidst the bad and your photo is stunningly beauiful so than God for what your eyes see and not for what they read and hear.

  3. Oops I meant “Thank”.

  4. Do you still expect rain at this time of the year. Magic?

  5. We are getting your share of rain I am afraid. The news is sad and blistering. UGH…

  6. I sure wish we could balance it out–the dryness, the floods. And yet, the hue you show has its own rough beauty.

The weather is always the news we first want, isn’t it? And for good reason.

  8. I like the poem and what a gorgeous photo! Up here we have too much rain- flooding in eastern Canada.

  9. Beautiful photo amidst the thirst of the Earth. We’ve been hoping for rain, and we finally had some today.

  10. Incredible how this dry earth still manages to be beautiful. Delightful blue sky over it.

  11. How I wish we could send you some of the 7 1/2 inches of rain we’ve had in the last 9 days!

  12. Sometimes when we want something badly enough.. its bound to happen 🙂

  13. And so it is. Lovely even without dew.
