    I love these structures in Japanese gardens. I have often wondered what they signify. They must signify something because the Japanese garden doesn’t have a lot of doo dads to clutter up the space. I wonder if those sections are supposed to be clouds to heaven?? One often feels like they are in heaven in a Japanese garden. They are so calming.

      I wish I knew their significance too! I so much agree with your assessment of Japanese gardens: They are places of tranquility, even when (as on the day I took this photo) there are many visitors.
