The Worst of Rhymes in the Worst of Times

Slides exist, along with swings—
So do birds with broken wings.
Test the syrup in the cup.
If it’s bitter, lap it up.
Don’t despair when despots rule.
One day they’ll be dead—how cool!
Break bad habits or they’ll last
Even after your life’s past.
Happy are the ones who do
Homework by the rules—it’s true!
First or last, last or first,
These rhymes are the very worst!

  1. Well, maybe they’re the worst rhymes, honey.
Still I love them – they”re so funny!

  2. I enjoyed your light touch this morning. Ha, bad habits do have a way of hanging on, don’t they? And as for despots, what a cheerful thought!!

Thanks, Mary. In these chaotic times, a light touch seems to be the right touch!

  3. Yes, a light touch is a welcome relief. The despot lines made me hopeful. Though it likely wont be soon enough.

  4. Oh I love them! Especially; “Don’t despair when despots rule. One day they’ll be dead—how cool!” 🙂

The one about them being dead really struck me. Funny set-up as the worst, draws me as much as the best!

  6. Luv your witty bits. My favourite the one about bad habits
Thanks for dropping by my sumie Sunday today

  7. Don’t be so hard on yourself, if we didn’t like them we wouldn’t comment! Sadly we can’t put our minds to more pleasant things when your third couplet is so much in mind.

  8. Humour is a relief during these difficult times
