Deepening winter—
I look in vain for snowflakes
on the palm tree’s fronds.

No snow here either. We are actually having a nice winter so far. The sun came out this morning for the first time this year. My spirits were lifted into the sky as these palm fronds are uplifted.

  2. Love it, the words, the photo, it all together!! Happy New Year!!

  3. good morning haiku master! all the snow you seek waits patiently in prescott, az. for as far as the eyes can see-a pure slate of a new year! sending you love and everything bright and pure to lift your heart. thank you for your gorgeous haiku and loyalty to small words with big heart. haiku my heart would never be the same without you!

  4. I can imagine a dusting of snow, tiny crystals on each point of green… until you find them… the beauty of this light makes my heart dance!

  5. Hmm ~ we all sometimes ‘go to the hardware store’ looking for the ‘ice cream’ ~ the human condition expressed so well in your lovely haiku.

    Happy New Year,
