Text Me a Message

Text me a message before I am gone,
Before waving shadows cover my lawn.
Candles and peaches, not rats in a bowl—
Text me of these things to cheer up my soul.
Don’t text about fences shredded by fate,
Just stick to the truth, let’s have a clean slate.
The truth being this, and always will be:
I’m made for you, dear, and you’re made for me.

  1. Ack, rats in a bowl! For sure, we prefer peaches! I love the closing lines.

  2. Best to cut the fruit up in small pieces for rats, or cook them in a pie for me (the fruit not rats!).

  3. I love this ‘truth’. Wish all truths had such sweetness….

  4. I think we all appreciate texts which cheer us up! The truth of the last line stands out boldly!

  5. Kestril Trueseeker

Sweet little texts from a loved one always brighten my day.

  6. I’ve heard one (or 15) people said that texting will never be as romantic as handwritten letters. I just nod–why argue with someone whose mind is already made up, right? But the nod is decorated with a grin of knowing, the memory of how much my husband’s last (texted), “I love my hairy bald beauty” warmed me inside (and made me laugh, too). Romance and love evolve (or might end up suffering).

  7. I agree a sweet text from a friend or loved one warms you up 😀 💞

  8. I think we all need a bit cheering up… and sometimes a simple text will help us beyond the rats to the peaches.

Thanks for looking beyond the rats to see those luscious peaches, Björn!

  9. Who can say, what is romantic to another? I will say, whatever works for you, is great!!!

  10. Colleen@ LOOSELEAFNOTES

    So sweet, all politics aside.

  11. A simple text can make or break a day in so many ways.

  12. Sweet and tender MMT… 🙂

  13. As always, the writing here, brilliantly tickles away at my funny bone. The word play is so cool! And the close is wonderful. If the ‘dear’s’ repartee can come close to keeping up their end, when responding to such scintillating observations – the ‘togetherness’ must be splendiferous!

  14. So what am I to do with my “rats_in_a_bowl.jpg”?

  15. I am because your are. namaste, janice

  16. Ah yes, just give me the sweet texts no rats for me thanks
