In a shady place
I stop to rest and listen—
a mourning dove sings.

Mourning doves tried to take up residence on our front porch but soon learned that we use the front door more than they would like. I didn’t realize they were so vocal with each other until now. Not just their mournful call but lots of churring and other noises. Interesting I thought.

  7. Beautiful with a tinge of sadness. 🙂

  8. To rest in the shade and listen to the doves… sounds like a perfect thing to do in a relaxing weekend! Have a nice Sunday, hug from Holland!

  9. Beautiful shadow shot! and Lovely haiku ~ love the dove cooing ~

    Happy Day to you,
