Keep on Singing

Sing of poems, sing of bleach,
Sing of games played on the beach.
Everything may be to blame,
But keep singing, just the same.
Sing humiliation down!
Sing to blur the monarch’s crown!
Wait not for the clown who smokes—
Make your own outrageous jokes!
Dizzy though you be with fear,
Keep on singing! Sing, my dear!

  1. May you always sing loud and proud!

  2. Ha, this reminds me of a tee shirt a friend gave me. It has printed on it ” Caution my burst into song at any minute”. haha… really funny because I can’t carry a tune in a bucket and it is true. I like to think of it as a joyful noise.

  3. Oh yes, sometimes all we can do is continue to sing!

  4. Love this!! ❤❤ There is something distinctly postive and uplifting about embracing the moment and to sing 😊

I see this in a children’s book with illustrations. The Emperor Wore No Clothes.

I would be a weird children’s book, don’t you think? I mean, some of those lines are inscrutable!

  6. This one should come with its own choreography. It was so much fun to read aloud–love the idea of singing “humiliation down” and “making “outrageous jokes”. I imagine dancing to it would be a hoot!

I can see you in your dancing shoes–or barefoot–shimmying this way and that! 🙂

  7. Sing of bleach ? hmmmmmmm…..heat stroke from the midday sun methinks:) Loved it.

  8. As always perfect for theses times. I fear my singing would add to the discord!

  9. Oh, I do try. But my voice too often cracks. Yet, I so appreciate your lovely poem and its advice. I will sing, promise.

  10. This poem was just fun and a delight to read.

  11. How important it is to laugh at ourselves. When I read your poetry it is as though you are showing us your alternate persona quite different from the person we might meet.

  12. Love it … with its wonderful, theatrical ‘Puck-esque’ quality … an absolute pleasure to read.

  13. A lovely, upbeat ditty 🙂

  14. We need bleach songs.. cleansing bleach songs!
