On a wintry day in the Sonoran Desert, storm clouds form in the east.

Winter afternoon—
one dove falling from the clouds
changes everything.

  1. Beautifully evocative write ❤️

  2. Oh! Indeed, it does. So sad,

  3. Lisa at Greenbow

Oh no. What an awful thing to see. To be reminded that these things happen all the time. I feel lucky not to have seen such a thing but it reminds me that I saw a hawk by the roadside. Fairly fresh kill as the feathers were still fluttering in the wind, very sad.

  4. Oh dear! A shocking image on a winter afternoon. Beautiful photo.

  5. enchanting image
    Happy Wednesday

    much love…

  6. Oh this is so completely gorgeous. It has great impact.

  7. Yes, it would..beautiful

  8. Living close to the desert must really change your attitude to many things, including survival. This regularly comes to the forefront of your beautiful writing emphasised by the use of the haiku format which tells so much in so few words.

  9. Lovely, poignant and sad words but a beautiful picture. Thank you for sharing

  10. We both went with a winter theme – you with your dove and me with robins. I like that the falling dove can be interpreted in several ways.

  11. Oh yes! I’m, reminded of the red wheelbarrow on which so much depends – but this comes with a sharper, more poignant realisation.

    Picture and haiku both beautiful.

  12. MMT,

A perfect Haiku to indicate the incoming change…:)

  13. stunningly beautiful! you place the light in my sky!

  14. forever changed…

  15. Pretty shot, and hoping you received some moisture from those storm clouds!

  16. A bit of an ‘unease’ haiku (is that the right word?) and I love it! Hope the rest of the birds stay up in the air… have a great weekend. Love from Holland.

  17. Lovely haiku says so much ~

    Happy Moments to You,

  18. I love the bushy tree against the dry landscape. It has almost a heart shape to it, and it seems to be watching the approaching storm clouds on the horizon.
