Scream

IMG_8025
An almost cloudless day makes it easy for raptors to hunt in California’s Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

A few passing clouds
can’t mute a hawk’s piercing scream—
the field mice tremble.

  1. Sharp. That piercing sound. Even the clouds run away…

  2. Anza-Borrego State Park is a really special place and memory for me. I worked there on and off for two years during my last two years of college at UC Riverside. My archeology/anthropology life started in this place.

  3. Pretty shot. I’ve not spent much time in Anza-Borrego. But it’s on my list!

  4. I saw a hawk or falcon (I’ll admit my ignorance, I don’t know which is which0 swoop down to catch a mouse the other day. They are such amazing birds!
