Lost and Found

I lost a little button, no bigger than my thumb,
High and low I called to it, but it would not come.
And then one day I found it, lying at my feet;
It had been there all the time—my relief was sweet!

  1. It is interesting that humans (and some other creatures) can get attached to the most trivial of things. It is like a love for something that makes things right or complete.

  2. Ha, always good to find something you thought was lost.

  3. And how sweet the words themselves

  4. “It had been there all the time” ☺

    Stay safe

  5. I have read your poem multiple times, each time I ‘get’ a new slant, a new interpretation. Love this.

  6. Cute! I would have been standing on the button the entire time I looked and called!

  7. Like Helen, I read it a couple of times. My first impression was sweetness and understanding–finding something we lost is wonderful. Then I thought about how it is also wonderful, when we open our eyes and find the value of what’s right in front of us.

    This sounds like a little children’s ditty, gentle and happy. A joy!

  9. Margaret Elizabeth Bednar

    Sweet. Reminds me of bedtime stories and poems I read all my children. Love it.
