April Longing

Guided by flowers,
I have found my way to you
fragrance by fragrance.
My little basket
holds April’s choicest blossoms—
they are all for you.
This April evening
I come, but find your door locked—
won’t you let me in?

  1. If you come knocking here, Teach, you’re IN, with or without the flowers.
    Nice work.

  2. Oh, what an enchanting sequence!

  3. I feel so sad, picturing the flower bearer standing at the locked door, waiting with an overflowing basket of blooms. But, maybe there’s a reason the door’s locked. As pretty an image I get, maybe the visitor is a stalker!

  5. Lovely April haiku sequence.
Happy Wednesday. Thanks gor dropping by to read mine

  6. The second stanza is cute, but the ending is rather sad. 😦

  7. You certainly have the knack in your writing to surpise the reader MMT!

  8. I was once told by a preacher’s wife, “Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker.” She was teaching class and all in the class were aghast, for sure I wasn’t quick enough to ask where flowers were on her list.

  9. I see you come bearing flowers, and fine poetry.
