Blue Monday & Ruby Tuesday Too: Yoga House

In the little mountain town of Dolores, Colorado you can visit the Yoga House. (Well, if it were an essential business and currently open, you could!) One photo, two memes.
A long loneliness
settles on the village streets—
coronavirus.

Macro Monday 2: Autumn Leaves
Shadow Shot Sunday 2: Footpath
The worst of your poems

Fallen leaves along the Cache La Poudre River, Fort Collins, Colorado
Take the worst of your poems
and put them in the bottom left drawer
of the wooden desk that once
belonged to your grandmother.
Lock them away for at least
a year and a day.
Do not think about them,
do not try to revise them
in your mind
as you wash the supper dishes
or take the dog for a walk
or withdraw cash from the machine.
Leave them alone,
leave them for a year and a day,
and when you take them out again
you will see their flaws and imperfections
and you might change a word or two
but your regrets for having written them
will fall away
just as the red leaves
fall from the backyard maple
after autumn’s first hard rain.

Schoolboy

Sunflowers, southern Colorado
~~ 1 ~~
spreading jam thickly
on a slice of whole wheat bread—
ravenous schoolboy
~~ 2 ~~
pollen in the air
making the young schoolboy sneeze—
his homework scatters
~~ 3 ~~
A young schoolboy hops
froglike to biology
down the long hallway.
~~ 4 ~~
His former teacher
pats the schoolboy on his head
as though he’s her pet.
~~ 5 ~~
through summer-scorched weeds
schoolboys pushing their way home—
crooked is the path
~~ 6 ~~
Playground katydids—
schoolboys pay no attention
as they chase the girls.
~~ 7 ~~
Bored out of his gourd,
a schoolboy totes up reasons
for being outdoors.
~~ 8 ~~
The hottest schoolboy’s
unavailable right now,
having been grounded.
~~ 9 ~~
Little red capsules—
the schoolboy’s gulping them down
as fast as he can.
~~ 10 ~~
shoplifting schoolboy—
his teachers thought him honest
until his arrest
~~ 11 ~~
In this schoolboy’s life
someone needs to intervene
before it’s too late.

Raven

Cache la Poudre River, Fort Collins, Colorado
Even in autumn
raven follows the river
as far as the sea.
