Litter

Evening glow
Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

Desert floor at dusk—
in the litter glory shines,
in the dust, wisdom.

Three Lights

Haiku Heights

Three broken windows—
the lights creep in like kittens
to explore the room.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Fading love letters—
we read them in the dim light
of a waning moon.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~

After siesta
I stumble into daylight,
clutching my guitar.

Three Islands

Haiku Heights

She hides from strangers
on her own private island—
dolphins sing to her.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~
As a farewell gift,
she gave him a small island
swimming through the stars.
~~~ ~~~ ~~~

If people are shocked
that I own seven islands,
what is that to me?

Longing

Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

Weary twilight shades
long for grass in which to lie,
not tangled branches.

A brown paper bag
clutched in a child’s hand can hold
all of creation.

Revelation

Tangled

Discarded fence wire, Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

For revelation
I sought the tangled fence wire,
but found only lies.
