The plaza in Ajo, Arizona is a gathering place for locals and visitors alike.
Apartments and studios for artists, artisans, and creative business people, Ajo, Arizona.
An artist’s deepest longing
Is for a sacred space
Where she can paint or scribble,
And serve the human race.
Sometimes a lucky artist
Will find a place called home;
But if she is ill-fated,
Then she is bound to roam.

Rugged mountains near Ajo, Arizona
Detail from a mosaic on a community wall, Ajo, Arizona
Through the wilderness
a family of dreamers
hastens hand in hand.

A statue of the Virgin Mary, Ajo, Arizona
Mary, are you feeling blue?
Are you feeling weary?
All the beggars come to you,
And their eyes are bleary.
Seeking favors from your hand,
They clamor and they shout.
Is it more than you can stand
To have them round about?
But your ways are not our ways,
Your hands are filled with grace,
Which you pour out on the strays
Of our ungrateful race.

Mural in Artists Alley, Ajo, Arizona
A wise woman watched from the wall
To see who would stumble and fall.
She offered them truth,
But no one, forsooth,
Accepted her offer at all.
