Three Weird Songs

I.
I will sing and laugh at table,
Tell my brother that I’m able
To eat pancakes every day—
Not with centipedes, no way!

II.
In the kitchen darker stories
Bloom like fatal morning glories;
Beautiful they are, but cruel,
Deadlier than day-old gruel.

III.
From a deep, enchanted well
Draw some water, say a spell
That will change (I know not how)
Donald Trump into a cow.

Beautiful Place

The world is a beautiful place
For every creed, color and race;
There’s room for us all,
The great and the small—
No need to seek more room in space.

Filling the Ashtrays

original

beautiful ashtrays
filling them with euro coins
to give to the poor

~~ ~~ ~~

filling the ashtrays—
puff after desperate puff
till the last smoke’s gone

~~ ~~ ~~

filling the ashtrays
with incense from the temple—
hush of curling smoke

the myth that teaches
fences must be beautiful—
