Text Me a Message

Text me a message before I am gone,
Before waving shadows cover my lawn.
Candles and peaches, not rats in a bowl—
Text me of these things to cheer up my soul.
Don’t text about fences shredded by fate,
Just stick to the truth, let’s have a clean slate.
The truth being this, and always will be:
I’m made for you, dear, and you’re made for me.

Riches

Late winter sunrise, filtered by the branches of an ironwood tree, Sonoran Desert, Southern Arizona

near the twisted tree
filling an empty alms bowl
with riches of light

Nap

Near The Citadel, Wupatki National Monument photo WupatkinearCitadel_zps644af60a.jpg
A deep depression near The Citadel, Wupatki National Monument, Northern Arizona

last days of summer
settling in an earthen bowl
for an ursine nap—
about the dreams to follow
not even stars know the time

in my broken bowl
gathering droplets of dew

Flowers

original

roses in a bowl
to animate her spirit
this month of mourning

~~ ~~ ~~

A bowl of flowers—
impassioned by the fragrance,
she slips off her dress.

~~ ~~ ~~

Flowers in a bowl—
the crone would sore pervert them
with her darkling arts.
