The guys in the band

IMG_5357
Mural in Artists Alley, Ajo, Arizona

The guys in the band wear big shoes.
It helps them, they say, play the blues,
While folks in the street
Just jive to the beat—
They must have a rollicking muse!

The year’s first handshake—

Mask

Jerry Kilbride’s haiku about a wheelchair child inspires me to write a new haiku about a child in a mask:

the wheelchair child
reaches for bubbles
she just blew

With her magic mask,
a girl sees fiery comets
whooshing through the streets.
