Cooing

Version 2
Palo verde tree in bloom at Yuma Conservation Garden, Yuma, Arizona.

among the blossoms
a hidden dove starts cooing—
distant mountains quake

Blue Monday: Windmill

DSC_0596
A windmill no longer used at Yuma Conservation Garden, Yuma, Arizona.

This windmill, though rusted and worn,
Deserves some attention, not scorn.
It needs a facelift—
Fresh paint is a gift—
And then it’ll shine night and morn!

Blue Monday: Saguaro Blossoms

DSC_0621
Saguaro cactus blossoms, Yuma Conservation Garden, Yuma, Arizona

Saguaros do not bloom at night;
In daytime they’re ever so bright.
Against a blue sky
They dazzle the eye—
O what a magnificent sight!

Shoeless

DSC_0360
A duck lingers near the pond, Yuma Conservation Garden, Yuma, Arizona

A duck doesn’t need to wear shoes;
His webbed feet have nothing to lose
By going unshod,
But isn’t it odd
That he’d rather stroll than to snooze?

Blue Monday: Ducks

IMG_3399 (1)
Yuma Conservation Garden, Yuma, Arizona

In the blue water three ducks take a swim,
The one in the middle’s a her or a him,
Or maybe it’s neither (though nobody knows),
But this I am sure of: that duck goes and goes!
