Wednesday’s Ravens

original

Cheese and bread and wine—
we dig into the hamper,
ravens eye the crumbs.

~~ ~~ ~~

Women in aprons
pulverize the cobblestones—
ravens peck the dust.

~~ ~~ ~~

Three ravens taunt me,
perched high in the cottonwood—
brittle summer song.

  1. a feeling of urban-ness….wish I was at that picnic……and the second was almost medieval – at least in my mind’s eye

  2. I got a sense of a village, rural, peaceful, but those ravens somehow haunt, the promise of something nasty under the pastoral idyll… Excellent piece.

  3. You just gotta love them ravens!! 😀

  4. Beautifully written…ravens for all tastes!

  5. lovely series of Raven-haiku

  6. Ravens… so misunderstood. Like vultures too – beautiful in their own way.

  7. Excellent..I so love the ravens… with Jules, I agree… so misunderstood.
    Peace
