Who

 photo IMG_5377_zpsagbv00ej.jpg
A mural in Artists Alley, Ajo, Arizona

Someone in the desert needs a helping hand;
Someone needs some water in this thirsty land.

Who will help the stranger out of her distress?
Who will offer comfort in the wilderness?

Cabin

 photo IMG_6965ruinsfront_zps2043f897.jpg
Abandoned house, Yuma County, Arizona

In the cabin walls
something purrs by day and night—
a leftover dream.

~~ ~~ ~~

In the cabin walls
nasty little creatures hide,
scrabbling in the dark.

~~ ~~ ~~

cabin by the way—
kneeling before the threshold
a weary pilgrim

~~ ~~ ~~

in the cabin walls
a desiccated silence
wheezing tales of woe
