Haiku and Senryu by the Dozen
Posted by magicalmysticalteacher
I offer myself
as an exile from the world—
the plum tree knows why.
~~ ~~ ~~
I am dubious
about their reasons for song—
the drunken plum trees.
~~ ~~ ~~
Choked with tumbleweeds,
the garden lies in ruins,
longing for fresh seeds.
~~ ~~ ~~
the scar on her cheek—
a shallow little canyon
where no guile can hide
~~ ~~ ~~
water in the cup
metallic taste in my mouth—
mixed morning blessings
~~ ~~ ~~
Staccato of rain
drumming on the windowpane—
my ravenous ears!
~~ ~~ ~~
She lives in a house
behind a door with no latch—
strangers come and go.
~~ ~~ ~~
What can you tell me
about the cloud that billows
or the star that falls?
~~ ~~ ~~
When rebellion came,
she scribbled fresh graffiti
on the church’s wall.
~~ ~~ ~~
No one saw the trees
dart in and out the meadow,
lapping at the dew.
~~ ~~ ~~
For bursts of color,
she lights the flowers’ fuses,
then runs for cover.
~~ ~~ ~~
Petulant poet,
you have no pot to piss in—
does that puzzle you?

Entranced by the elegance – surprised by the ending!
Excellent linked senryu. I particularly like the scar as
a shallow little canyon
I’m Enchanted.
Excellent Haiku & Senryu.
The last one made me smile, and all that cascade down the page are excellent. Flashes of wisdom … aha moments. A favorite stop for me.
I laughed outright when the last one slipped through my fingers and onto the page! 🙂
Thanks for visiting faithfully.
these are some beautiful haikus! i’m glad to have read them 🙂
It felt as if I was a drop of water sliding down a waterfall with each piece as they all fell together to make it whole. I have a 15 soon to be 16 year old and I see and hear the rebellion all too often. So, this piece really speaks to me.
Lovely writing. I loved the billowing clouds and falling stars. Great imagery.
Clever message, and I know what you mean!!!
In particular, this one carved a little love into my heart:
When rebellion came,
she scribbled fresh graffiti
on the church’s wall
That is not only a great poem, but also the great starting line of a long novel I would love to read while in the bath. Good work
That last one threw me for a loop ~smiles~… I especially like the 4th and 5th.
Nice!
Pamela
Oh my my my. you have done a spectacular work here. i love these words you have written and shared.
my thoughts are expanded.
I enjoy Senryu and Haiku tremendously. Yours shone bright in the skies today.
Amazing set of Haiku for word wordle … an interesting challenge that seems daunting to grasp … however, I hadn’t thought of doing it in a series of micro poetry … hmmm, I might try one!! Thank you for sharing ~~
I love the idea of drunken plum trees singing.
(and the plethora of “P”s in the last)
Whoa! Your comments look different. At least I hope they do. If not, I have been very focused in past weeks.
Oh, those wild plum trees.
I always enjoy what you make with the words. I especially liked this one:
the scar on her cheek—
a shallow little canyon
where no guile can hide
Like all of them. Did someone said reading them is like a little trickling cascade?
Choked with tumbleweeds,
the garden lies in ruins,
longing for fresh seeds.
This one reminded me of a dear old lady.
I like what you’ve done with the wordle words and the haiku/senryu form. I liked the first two – with the plum trees – and “when rebellion came” – those are my favorites.
Richard
Petulant poet,
you have no pot to piss in—
does that puzzle you?
Nope, because we just raise more hell!
Excellent group this week.
I’m having a good belly laugh as I read your comment! 🙂
Enchanting. You always come up with beautiful haiku for the occasion!
Some beautiful, some not so beautiful, but all true–I hope. Thank you for your kind comment.
Ha…I liked them all but the petulant poet one gave me a laugh. Good one!
Beautifully linked MMT..
Someone is Special
Wonderful collection as always – I look forward to my visit here to read what has become of the wordle words. 🙂
🙂
love watching as this story unfolds. AND true to haiku, a surprise ending.
x..x
each haiku tells a story, well done.
🙂
A marvelous collection. What a great way to bring the words to life. Thanks for stopping by my blog – so very nice to meet you!
No one saw the trees
dart in and out the meadow,
lapping at the dew.
Oh I love that idea… the secret lives of trees… I enjoyed all o12, but I think that one is my favorite.
for some reason, I like the metallic cup and the water a lot
elephant slave
