Oak Leaves

original

ten thousand oak leaves—
shaking his head with disgust
an old gardener

~~ ~~ ~~

ten thousand oak leaves—
see the old gardener pout
as he rakes and rakes

~~ ~~ ~~

ten thousand oak leaves—
old gardener’s rusty rake
snags a soggy wad

  1. I’m sure the old gardener is not rewarded with wads of notes for all the hard labour!!

    Poor old gardener
Rakes and rakes, no wads of green
    Just some Autumn mess
    🙂

  2. I especially like the first one.

You could link this to Poetry Jam, too, as the prompt is RUST– http://poetryjaam.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-thing-about-rust.html

  3. yes it’s that time of year, poor gardener,

  4. Pity the old guy! But at least he is healthy doing all that! Nicely MMT!

    Hank

  5. Soon it will be time for leaf raking again.
Where I live, it’s one of the things paid for by the HOA fee that I grumble about every month. However, I may end up helping my mother with hers.

  6. Such a timely poem. It is September. All those pesty old leaves will soon fill lots of yards and the gardeners will be feeling just like your poetry.

  7. Love the sound of ‘snags a soggy wad’

There really are! But you have to look hard for them, and they are more likely to be found in the northern deserts than down here in the Sonoran.

  8. I love the way the old rusty rake is used to gather the old leaves. Much more to this and my heart certainly is filled with the old leaves the world trows at me. Love this.

  9. ha. not looking forward to the raking but def the beauty of fall….very cool set…..

  10. Wonderful chain of haiku ….

  11. I know that grouchy old gardener……I loved these!

  12. oh the rusty rake
that mounds dry leaves and bracken
    fans smoky fall fires
