Sunday afternoon
another page of Kafka
served up for dessert

Sunday afternoon
still trying to get sober
after last night’s bash

~~ ~~ ~~

Sunday afternoon
tear stains on an old letter
read a thousand times

~~ ~~ ~~

Sunday afternoon
content to cling to folly
only for an hour

~~ ~~ ~~

Sunday afternoon
the monastery garden
overrun with fleas

~~ ~~ ~~

Sunday afternoon
meditating on the way
even pests evolve

  1. I’m back home and catching up on all your cactus and desert posts. So nice. Sometimes it is better (for me) to read several in succession.

  2. This sounds like a bit of a testing Sunday afternoon….personally we would choose ice cream for dessert not Kafka…he can be a bit of a mouthful…clinging onto folly? Can be good at times perhaps…mine sticks like glue to my shoe 🙂

  3. Great series….that third one is a heart throb!

  4. And they Sunday is a day of rest! I must say rather have kulfi (Indian ice cream) for desert than Kafka!

  5. We were trying to be polite 😉

  6. An interesting view… I love the last one…”even pests evolve”! Great!

  7. Five amazing captivating haikus.

  8. hmm…well written, but not such pleasant Sundays!

  9. Nice series. but I have the need to scratch now!

  10. these are all rather grim
    but the third one
    such exquisite agony

  11. These are all great, however unpleasant!

  12. I am glad I read Kafka once, I don’t have to do that again!

  13. So many shades of a Sunday afternoon — from the tragic to the comic. The first reminds me of Simon & Garfunkel’s “Danging Conversation” — and the fleas are oh-so-Issa. 🙂

I guess Issa (or his ghost) was lurking in the back of my mind as I wrote about the fleas!

  15. All very well composed. Last one is superb.

  16. what a productive Sunday

  17. hah! I’d rather have truly lazy sundays!!! 😛

This one does sound rather strenuous, doesn’t it?

  18. Very well composed series MMT … I have read this series several times and every time I was hit by the third haiku … I love to use that haiku for one of our upcoming Tan Renga Challenges if that’s ok?

  19. Fleas! As if sack cloth wasn’t enough!

    • magicalmysticalteacher

Ah, yes, fleas—and they never seem to flee! 😉
