Dolls

All dolled up … nowhere to go …

~~ ~~ ~~

A doll, a trinket—
where shall we hide these strange gifts
from her prying eyes?

~~ ~~ ~~

The countertop doll
would dance with zest if she could—
elusive music.

~~ ~~ ~~

a porcelain doll
without a stitch of clothing—
enigmatic smile

~~ ~~ ~~

the road into town
where he hopes to win a doll
at the carnival

~~ ~~ ~~

traveling circus—
the man with the kewpie dolls
shoves pins into one
