Weather-beaten

A weathered statue of La Virgen de Guadalupe, Yuma Pioneer Cemetery, Yuma, Arizona

O battered Guadalupe,
What is there to celebrate?
Your gown’s reduced to tatters
Even as you watch and wait.

Yet in your loving presence
We find mercy, peace and grace,
For there’s unending sunshine
In your weather-beaten face.
