Festive decorations on a Christmas tree in a Yuma County, Arizona church inspire hope.

Near the Christmas tree
one child hopes for an iPhone,
one for joy and peace.

  1. This haiku is truly thought provoking. Makes me think of how differently each child has been brought up, what each has learned or not learned, what values they grow with. The world is that way.

  2. One for connection and the other for connection as well… Blessings to you dear MMT!

  3. All of us are different. Perhaps the phone will “ring” on a New Year filled with peace and joy. Merry Christmas!…:)jp

  6. oh my goodness YES! May we please have JOY and PEACE! i am so grateful for 2020 to come to an end.
here’s to a new year in a kinder, gentler world that is dedicated to healing the earth and all who reside on it!

  7. The disparity, when it comes to wishes (and in all honesty, necessities) is so very evident when we let our minds roam the world. I’ve thought a lot about that this year. So much so that it’s being the very first year that not one person in my life got anything I had to buy. Donating the money I had saved for presents felt better spent on a local family without current work. Not exactly joy and peace, but… perhaps, a breath.

    Happy Holidays, MMT.
